Hi, and welcome to the Health Communication Research Lab at the University of Connecticut! We study how communication messages and message effects influence public health outcomes.

Our research covers a variety of topics, including cancer prevention and control, risk communication, digital health, and chronic illness management. Students in the lab receive training and experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating health communication research studies. Some of the methods we use include:

  • Cross-sectional and longitudinal experiments/quasi-experiments
  • Complex survey analysis
  • Social network analysis
  • Machine learning and AI
  • Social media analysis
  • Systematic review and meta-analysis
  • Qualitative analysis

The lab is currently recruiting undergraduate and graduate students!
